December 2014 - MedicalDirector PracSoft PKI Certificate Update

Valid Medicare Australia certificates are required by customers who communicate electronically with Medicare Australia when using PKI. Replacement of expired certificates is a normal operational procedure. Renewing your Medicare Australia certificates will allow online operations to continue uninterrupted.

PKI technology is used in MedicalDirector PracSoft for the secure transmission of online claiming data.

MedicalDirector is pleased to provide MedicalDirector PracSoft customers with the latest version of the PKI Manager which will assist you to update the Medicare Australia PKI certificate to the very latest and current version.

 

 Instructions to Renew PKI Certificates:

  1. The two documents below provide detailed instructions for updating the Medicare Australia PKI Certificate. It is recommended that you download these documents (by clicking the hyperlinks below) and printing them out for reference.

  2. After reading the instructions you will find that you need to download the latest PKI Certificate Manager Installer by clicking on 'download' button at right hand side table.
  3. Staff must close MedicalDirector PracSoft (and MedicalDirector Clinical if also using PKI) when you perform the instructions, which should normally be run on the server.

MedicalDirector strongly recommends that you always update your Medicare Australia PKI certificate to the latest and current version.

July 2014 MBS and RMFS fee update and January 2014 DVA Allied Health fee update.

HCN is pleased to announce the release of the MBS fee update for July 2014, RMFS fee update for July 2014 and DVA Allied Health fee update for January 2014 for PracSoft 3.1.2 and above.

MD/PS 3.15.2 Update

This 3.15.2 cumulative update builds on the Medical Director and PracSoft 3.15 full release. The update includes all enhancements and modifications provided by subsequent updates (3.15a, 3.15b and 3.15.1) as well as further modifications and enhancements targeted at improving performance, functionality and efficiency within your practice.

 

Benefits of applying Medical Director 3.15.2 update

Medical Director includes robust tools to facilitate the secure exchange of patient information between clinicals. There are more than 14,200 clinicians securely transferring clinical information. MDExchange is HCN's secure communication system which is part of the core product and fully supported by HCN Technical Support.

  • Introducing Ethnicity, Country of Birth & Australian Defence Force (ADF) service status to patient demographics.
  • eHealth Assisted Registration (New) tool to assist your patients in registering for an PCEHR eHealth record.
  • Prescription and Dispense View (New) to see information about the patients prescribed and dispensed medications.
  • eHealth Clinical Usability improvements.
  • National Inpatient Medication Chart (NIMC) improvements.

Prerequisites
  • The Medical Director / PracSoft 3.15.2 update can only be installed over Medical Director and PracSoft 3.15 or higher (3.15a, 3.15b or 3.15.1).

Note: If you have a version older than MD/PS 3.15 (DVD released from November 2013) installed you will be required to use your DVD to install this release prior to installing the MD/PS 3.15.2 update. If you need assistance with performing either installation or require a replacement DVD please submit an online support inquiry or contact HCN Customer Support on 1300 788 802

 

Instructions:
  1. Click on the Download button.
  2. When prompted, select the option to 'Save' the update file to your computer. Do NOT select the option to 'Run' the file at this time.
  3. Select a location on your computer to save and download the update when ready.
  4. Close Medical Director, PracSoft and the Appointment Book on all computers.
  5. Perform this update on the Server first, then on each workstation.
  6. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the update, and double-click on it to initiate the installation.
  7. The Update Installation Wizard opens. If prompted (depending on your computer's security settings), click the 'Run' button to commence the installation. The installation proceeds automatically.
  8. When complete, the Installation Wizard will close automatically.

MD/PS 3.15 Full Release

2nd of December 2013

This download is an image (ISO file) of the MD/PS 3.15 DVD. The following Medical Director and PracSoft update is a full release. The MD/PS 3.15 update is a full update which can be applied for new installations or installed over 3.12 or above.

This download has been made available for your convenience and is not intended as the primary source of the MD/PS 3.15 release. It is an ISO file (DVD image file) and you will need to use third party DVD burning software to create a DVD from this ISO file (or extract the contents using a utility such as WinRAR) in order to use it for installation/update to MD/PS3.15.

Alternatively, if you are unsure about how to download the ISO file provided here, please wait for the delivery of the MD/PS 3.15 release in the mail.

    • FREE MD Clinical Prompts: Provides clinicians with a more streamlined visual prompt, replacing the traditional pop up prompts in previous versions.

  • Streamlined Billing in the Record Visit screen:
    • Processing multiple payment types in one receipt.
    • Processing partial payments in one receipt.
  • Improved Service Text functionality for Medicare and DVA claims.

Instructions:

  1. Click on the Download button.
  2. When prompted, select the option to 'Save' the update file to your computer. Do NOT select the option to 'Run' the file at this time.
  3. Select a location on your computer to save and download the update when ready.
  4. Using suitable virtual DVD or DVD burning software you can now either burn a DVD or mount a virtual DVD drive using the ISO file you saved.
  5. Alternatively you can extract the contents of the DVD image file (ISO) with a 3rd party program such as WinRAR in a similar process to that used for archive files (ZIP and other formats).
  6. Perform this update on the Server first, then on each workstation.
  7. If after inserting the DVD, the installation does not start automatically, then use explorer to navigate to the root directory/folder of the DVD and double-click 'setup.exe'.
  8. When complete, the Installation Wizard will close automatically.
