Clinical User Guide
National Immunisation Program Schedule

For the benefit of practitioners, the schedule adjusts to cater for the requirements of Aboriginal, Torres Straight Islander (ATSI) patients, some states' variations from standard schedule, and the changing time-scales associated with type changes on some antigens.

The Immunisation Schedule provides:

o      Historical recording such that most, if not all vaccinations already given are visually presented on the schedule.

o      Compliance with currently scheduled items, by attempting as near as possible to display the current and future vaccinations due, if the patient has already been vaccinated according to schedule.

Different columns and check boxes will display on the screen against both time of the dosing and what is administered, based primarily on the date of birth of the patient. This is because different schedules/recommendations have been in existence at various times in the past and depending on the child's age they may have had some or all of their previous vaccines from these schedules.

Which check boxes are displayed at any given time is determined by:

o      The date of birth of the patient.

o      Whether or not the patient is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin (ATSI).

o      Practice post code.

o      What vaccines have been previously entered for this patient.

When checked, all check boxes display all products currently available for use. Historical data will also display the names of vaccines given that are no longer available or in use.

State-to-State Differences

Clinical attempts to show state to state differences by matching the individual state schedules and NIPS as close as plausible. This means that the schedule satisfies both the State and NIPS schedule for compliance.
