The ADDRESS.IN file format is used to import specialist information into the Clinical Address Book. This is done using the Import utility found in the MedicalDirector Maintenance suite.
This file is an ASCII text file with each entry on a single line terminated by a Carriage return/Line feed pair (ASCII 13 + ASCII 10). Fields can be separated by the pipe character "|" or can be enclosed in double quotation marks and separated by commas.

o The Import feature checks the demographics for duplications and merges any that are found. This check is based on Surname, FirstName and Specialty.
o The field sizes are the same length as those in Clinical. If the data is too long for the fields, it is truncated.
o If a field has no value, it must be left blank (not omitted).
